This site uses a homebrew html and css hack that attempts to mimick the design elements I like from Edward Tufte’s books. I’m pretty opinionated on how to write html¹¹ Particularly when it comes to semantic elements, but also things like encoding and Javascript., but I’ll try to keep that out of this document.

This site does have some Javascript, but it basically belongs to two categories: enhancements (like rendering equations nicely) and analytics (I run my own limited analytics²² And it would never occur to me to sell my visitors. mostly to keep track of various hosting quotas.) For that reason, this document will not mention Javascript further.
